Intestinal cleansing in a weakened intestine

Intestinal cleansing is the reconstruction of a healthy intestinal flora in which all bacteria are in equilibrium. Such a procedure is advisable at the latest when complaints arise. These can include indigestion such as diarrhea and / or constipation, headaches / migraines, rheumatic complaints, an increased susceptibility to infections and the weakness of the entire organism. Even with constant fatigue and significant weight gain, intestinal rehabilitation should be considered.

Strengthen the intestinal flora

A healthy intestinal flora means that billions of different bacteria live together. Between 100 and 400 different types of bacteria live together and this is usually in a healthy, natural balance. About 80 percent of the human immune system is controlled from the intestine. Various vitamins such as K, B2, B12, folic acid and biotin are produced here. These physiological bacteria form a barrier against intruders and activate the body's defenses. However, it only works when the intestinal flora is in balance.

Weak intestine due to poor nutrition

As a result of the disturbed intestinal flora, those affected often suffer from a weakened intestine. The main reason for this is an unhealthy, too fat and too high-protein diet. Excess, especially animal protein is deposited in the intestine. This slagging displaces the "good" intestinal bacteria and the "bad" can spread more and more. The physical defenses suffer from this. Frequent infections spread. Those affected may have to deal with various digestive disorders, fatigue and allergies.

How can a disturbed intestinal flora be recognized?

The diagnosis of "disturbed intestinal flora" can be made on the basis of a detailed medical history in connection with a stool examination. During the stool examination, the bacteria in the intestine are determined and whether there are any digestive residues in the stool and whether allergic components play a role.

Colon cleansing for preparation

Colon cleansing is the prerequisite for building a healthy intestinal flora. This means that the intestine must first be freed from the harmful ballast before an intestinal clean-up can help at all. Cleaning can be carried out using various methods and means. These are to be determined depending on the initial situation of the person concerned and depending on the symptoms. For example, herbal remedies are used, such as colon hydrotherapy, in which the intestine is cleaned with enemas. Antifungal (anti-fungal) therapy may also be necessary.

Psyllium husks are an old proven home remedy for natural colon cleansing. Because these swell in the intestine and can thus soften faecal deposits on the inner walls of the intestine and bind released putrefactive products so that they come out of the body with the stool. It is important that you drink enough still water (at least 200 ml) each time you take psyllium. Otherwise, the symptoms may increase or even an intestinal obstruction may occur.

Healing earth provides good support for cleaning the intestine. Because it is able to bind toxins, metabolic products and harmful bacteria and has a detoxifying effect. Since it can also bind excess stomach acid, it is also one of the best home remedies for heartburn.

Bitter plants such as dandelions, nettles or artichokes can help the body fight harmful intestinal germs. Generally, colon cleansing should be viewed as a cure that lasts around two to four weeks.

Procedure of a colon cleansing

After colon cleansing, colon cleansing can begin. Here too there are many different treatment options. Those affected get lactic acid-producing germs such as lactobacilli and bifidobacteria in maximum doses. Another option is to take coli and other germs. Then the physiological intestinal bacteria are usually fed, i.e. an attempt is made to stimulate the proliferation of lactic acid by administering indigestible oligosaccharides such as inulin and oligofructose.

Accompanying measures on the way to a healthy intestine

A change in diet is often part of the treatment. The more processed finished products are replaced by freshly prepared, nutrient-rich meals made from basic foods, the faster therapy will be successful. Avoid fat, animal protein, sweets and white flour products as much as possible and instead choose base-forming fruits and vegetables such as apples, pears, berries, broccoli, peas, spinach and lettuce such as rocket, endive or lollo rosso.

Other basic foods include almonds, various herbs (such as oregano, chervil, marjoram), porcini mushrooms, mushrooms and potatoes. The basic drinks include vegetable juices and green tea.

It is advisable to drink high-quality and non-carbonated water during the cleansing of the intestine. The more they absorb, the faster the toxins can be washed out of the body. It should be two to three liters a day, ideally as a supplement to fresh vegetable and herbal juices, which provide the body with many important nutrients.

Colon cleansing takes four to six weeks. Ideally, the healthy diet should of course also be maintained after the procedure has been carried out. The procedure should only be carried out under the guidance of a naturopath.

Healthy power from the blender: Green smoothies made easy

Natural juices such as apple-carrot juice and smoothies with fruits and vegetables offer excellent support for detoxification due to their valuable ingredients and should therefore be on the daily menu during intestinal rehabilitation. Green smoothies are ideal because “greens” such as salads, baby spinach, wild herbs or cabbage vegetables are particularly rich in certain vital substances that contribute to the health of the intestine.

A celery and carrot smoothie, for example, is delicious and quickly prepared.
For this you need:
  • two celery stalks,
  • two carrots,
  • five to six leaves of romaine lettuce,
  • three sprigs of parsley,
  • two sprigs of dill,
  • a small tuber of beetroot and, depending on your taste, a clove of garlic.

Clean the ingredients thoroughly under running water and remove all dirt. Now the fruit and vegetables are cut into coarser pieces and processed into a drink with some high quality water in the blender.

Effective self-help: Instructions for a beneficial abdominal massage

A self-performed abdominal massage supports detoxification and detoxification and is therefore particularly suitable as an accompanying measure in building up the intestinal flora.

A massage is particularly effective if it is carried out once or twice a day during intestinal rehabilitation, with the first round ideally taking place in bed in the morning. You can perform the second treatment according to your personal daily schedule, for example after work in the late afternoon or immediately before falling asleep. You should plan about ten minutes for each process, depending on your taste you can use a natural oil as an aid.

Lie loosely on your bed or a yoga mat, for example, and bend your knees slightly so that your abdominal muscles can relax better. If you like it even more comfortable, you can also put a pillow under your knees. Place your hands flat on your upper abdomen and gently and slowly move your right hand towards your navel. Then the movement is repeated with the left hand.

Now the hands are placed around the navel so that they form a triangle. Breathe in and out very consciously and slowly and concentrate only on yourself - you will quickly notice how beneficial the warmth emanating from the hands is. Then massage your stomach with your right hand (opposite clockwise) in small circles, which are not raised.

The left hand follows (in the Clockwise), then both hands circle simultaneously. Note that the right one continues to massage and the left one clockwise - which is usually no longer a problem after a little practice. (sw, nr)
