A U.S. study showed that people who consume walnuts are significantly less at risk of type 2 diabetes than people who do not eat nuts. Walnuts contain plenty of vitamin E and vitamin B6, minerals (especially magnesium), fiber and valuable secondary plant substances and by far the most essential omega-3 fatty acids of all types of nuts.
